Canada and Australia are on opposite sides of the world, but these countries have a lot in common, to wit:

  • they’re both former British colonies and members of the Commonwealth;

  • their populations are majority white and English-speaking, but they also have very large immigrant communities;

  • both countries are sparsely populated, with their people heavily concentrated in several large cities;

  • Canadians and Aussies alike love their beer and outdoor activities, as well as cooking various meats on barbecues and/or barbies; and,

  • in both nations, serious offences are punishable by booting. (I’m pretty sure it’s in the Criminal Code of Canada somewhere, I mean, it’s like 5,000 pages long so who could read all of that?)

“Mr. Bieber, this court has decided to impose extreme measures to defer you from making another album.”

And now we can add to the list: spring1 2025 federal elections in which the main conservative political party saw its massive lead in the polls collapse as the embattled incumbent left…
