Russia returns to its regularly scheduled pogromming
Just one more reminder of why so many Jews left in the first place.
Whenever anti-Israel activists are confronted about slogans like “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “we don't want two states, we want ‘48” and asked what that would mean for Jews now living in Israel, the responses are usually along these lines:
Covering their faces and walking away.
Smirking1 at you and walking away.
Telling you to perform an obscene act on yourself.
Saying it's not their job to educate you.
Throwing a penny at your feet and asking if you'll pick it up.
Saying the Jews should go back “where they came from.”
Since they are concerned only about Palestinian lives and are not at all antisemitic and how dare you even suggest such a thing, you'd think they might be more diligent about making sure their fellow demonstrators aren't calling for the Army of Mohammed to return and slaughter all the Jews or protesting outside Jewish day care centers or acting triggered when Bernie Sanders commemorates the victims of a mass shooting at a synagogue.
And when Israelis do return to the old country - or, at least, are rumored to have returned - it's very strange that principled anti-Zionists outraged by the policies of the Netanyahu government act exactly like their great-grandparents did when they expressed their displeasure at Jews poisoning the town well and controlling the banking system:
