It sure would be nice to have a functioning government right now

While Donald Trump trolls about annexing Canada and threatening tariffs, the Trudeau government is in complete meltdown.

So, um, this happened:

I’m not sure what’s the most disturbing part about the President-elect’s latest yammerings on his bespoke social media app:

• that he actually believes many Canadians want to join the United States;

• that he doesn’t understand how trade deficits actually work and thinks his country is somehow “subsidizing” Canada; or,

• that he’s posting this at 3:23 in the morning.¹

I’d attribute this to drunkenness, but Donald Trump is famously a teetotaler because of his brother’s death hastened by alcoholism. It’s one of the few truly humanizing things about him.

It also means says all this stuff presumably sober.
