Two questions about Joe Biden’s “garbage” comments earlier this week:
Did he actually say all Trump supporters are “garbage,” or just some of them?
Either way, should he have said it?
I’m agnostic on the question of whether the President (yes, he’s still President, though sometimes even I forget) actually meant to insult every Trump voter, or if he was just referring to his most radical, xenophobic supporters. Who were, um, given prime speaking slots at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally this past weekend.
I’ve pondered the question of whether voting for Trump automatically makes you a bad person and come down on the negative side, though I still think supporting this man is at the very least a character flaw. (Raise your hand, anyone reading this who honestly believe they don’t have a character flaw.)
Many Trump supporters are indeed very, very bad people, though. If anything, the MAGA ecosystem is one where being awful is the only way to advance.
Either way, should Biden have said it?…
