The F Word
The word "fascist" is often misused and abused, but not when it comes to President Trump.

For as long as I’ve been following politics, no matter what else changes with the times, there are two constants:
Whichever conservative/right-of-center politician is in the ascendant at a given moment is a “fascist.”
He or she ceases to be a “fascist” upon losing an election and/or enough time has passed, at which point Strange New Respectᵀᴹ is bestowed in contrast to the new conservative standard-bearer, whom in contrast to his or her predecessor is actually a “fascist.”
Mitt Romney was accused of wanting to kill old people and give others cancer. My fellow Substack writer Erin O’Toole was accused of racism for using the slogan “take back Canada” and had his military record belittled and blatantly lied about. And now Pierre Poilievre is accused of being a secret Trump sleeper agent for having flags at his rally or some shit.
