The convoy candidate
The leading candidate for Conservative Party of Canada leader seems cool with anti-vaccine protesters.
Two stories I found on National Newswatch, a Canadian news aggregator, this morning:
“Millions of Canadians Believe US Election Was Stolen From Trump”
“Poilievre encourages anti-vaccine mandate protests amid reports of Canada Day rally”
I bet there’s a lot of crossover, there. Canadian MAGA supporters remain a small minority (though, as in most countries, the people who love Trump really love him) but the ones who haven’t decamped to the conspiracist PPC are likely supporting Poilivere’s bid to take control of the country’s main center-right political party.
If he wins, that means we won’t really have a center-right political party anymore.
Pierre Poilievre says he supports “all Canadians who peacefully stand up for their rights” amid reports a second so-called convoy protest is planned for Ottawa.
In a statement Tuesday, Poilievre denied claims the presumptive Conservative leadership frontrunner would greet the potential protest planned for Canada Day in Ottawa.
But he called vaccine mandates “unfair, unscientific bullying” and said he encourages “everyone to keep protesting government attacks on our freedoms.”
“I support all Canadians who peacefully stand up for their rights in protesting the Liberal Government’s vaccine vendetta,” Poilievre said in a statement to Global News.
The Poilievre campaign added that they had not spoken with any organizers of a potential rally on Parliament Hill on July 1.
