As I write this, my son and I are on the way back from New York, or “The Windy Emerald” as it’s commonly known. We were here to attend our first NFL game in person, a Sunday night clash of the titans between (checks notes) the Daniel Jones-led Giants and (checks notes again) the 1-4 Bengals. MetLife Stadium actually paid us to attend.
I kid, but I needn’t have worried about my Joe Burrow-obsessed kid wearing his Bengals hat at a Giants home game, because at least a quarter of the crowd (maybe even up to a third) was on Team “Who Dey.” And while they weren’t treated to a particularly exciting game after Joe Burrow’s thrilling touchdown run on his opening drive, the Bengals got a desperately needed win.
