Way back in the early days of this Substack, I wrote a post criticizing the Lincoln Project for trying to name and publicly shame lawyers representing the Trump campaign in its election court challenges. Obviously, I didn’t want Team MAGA to succeed, but as a lawyer myself, I must object to other lawyers being ostracised for representing unpopular clients.
You never know when you might find yourself the target of public outrage and need someone to help you in court. At least one Lincoln Project co-founder learned this the hard way.
Anyway, I’m inclined to give lawyers a break when it comes to taking on difficult and unpopular cases. But I do have my limits:
