In Russia, video cringes at *you*

A campaign to get lonely Western men to move to Russia shows what the country could be - and what it actually is.

When I first read about this video encouraging people to pack up and move to Russia, I assumed it must be a parody, for two reasons:

  1. It’s the most cringeworthy thing I’ve ever seen in my life; and,

  2. The narrator sounds like Space Ice.

But it’s apparently real. Several Russian government-affiliated Xwitter accounts posted it. And…I don’t even know where to begin:

Considering the fate of other Westerners who’ve settled in Russia, this reminds me of the old joke about the video game developer who dies and is given the choice to spend an eternity in Heaven or Hell:

First, he checks out heaven and sees that it's pretty standard stuff, angels, clouds, peace, but nothing really interesting.

Then he checks out hell. Really cool parties going on all over the place, infinite amount of drinks and drugs, beautiful women everywhere.

Obviously, he chooses hell, but as soon as gets there, he gets thrown into a tub of boiling water, with demons poking him with pitchforks.

He starts complaining to the Devil, that this isn't what he was shown.

The Devil replies, "Well, sorry mate, that was just the E3 demo".

Once you’ve finished picking up your jaw from the floor, you might have some questions about the “beautiful women” part, illustrated not by Maria Sharapova but two pre-teen girls running through a field.

Natalia Antonova makes the obvious connection:

You see how they’re talking about “beautiful women” while showing little girls playing? It’s almost like it’s tailored for pedophiles like Scott Ritter and other degenerates. Maybe whoever edited the video is just a dumbass — a distinct possibility — but the entire commercial is meant to appear to American men who feel marginalized. And why not? Angry people are easier to control and exploit.

I’m just leaving this here:

Steven Seagal given Russian citizenship by Vladimir Putin's government - CBS News

The sad thing, of course, is that on paper, Russia really should be one of the greatest places on earth in which to live.
