Haley 2024: In case of Trump imprisonment, break glass
Why she should just admit what every Republican is thinking.
If you had told me a few months ago that Haley, or indeed any of Trump’s challengers, would get over 40% in the New Hampshire primary I would have been thrilled.
Haley won 43% of the vote in what's effectively a two-person race - more than Pat Buchanan won in his celebrated 1992 insurgent run against George H.W. Bush - and while I should have realized the die was cast as soon as Vivek and Ron DeSantis dropped out, it still feels a bit disappointing.
But she is staying in the race, at least for now. And I find myself wondering heck, why not keep the campaign going?
It's not like Haley still has much to lose by staying in the race. Her political future in South Carolina Republican politics can be summed up by several people who owe their political careers to Haley stabbing her in the back to appease the orange God King.
And in case you haven't noticed, Donald Trump does have a few legal problems right now, and if I didn’t know any better I’d say he’s daring the courts to lock him up.
There is a very strong possibility The Donald could be campaigning from a prison cell this summer, as one of his former lawyers appointed out on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show.
I’d love to go back in time and tell 2010 me that sentence with no other context.
