Breaking: Mar-a-Lago closed due to unexpected plague of locusts
Trump promotes a blasphemous "Bible."
Right-wing commentators often express disgust at Donald Trump’s very obvious grifting, ignorance and authoritarian techniques, but say they feel compelled to vote for him anyway because of far-left extremism and stuff.
I question this strategy for two reasons:
If you think “wokeness” is bad now - and I might very well agree with you on that point, especially as a resident of Trudeaupia - imagine what it’s going to be like if and when Trump gets re-elected. It will be like the summer of 2020 on steroids.
More importantly, even a blue-ribbon panel of edgelord atheists, social justice warriors and Islamic extremists tasked with blaspheming against Jesus Christ couldn’t come up with a heresy as shocking as this:
I’ve long noticed that a key difference between a religion and a cult is how much it will make you pay to receive The Word. Walk into pretty much any Church anywhere - even a “prosperity gospel” megachurch - and they’ll be more than happy to give you a Bible for free.
And not even a cheap one. The Bible I was given by my Church has a leather (or at least convincing faux-leather) cover and everything.
But when it’s not Christianity you’re preaching but “Christian Nationalism,” fusing the Gospel with America’s (overwhelmingly secular) founding documents to create a hybrid which defames and tarnishes both, I guess you can’t pass up the chance to make a quick buck.
Indeed, the High Prophet of this new religion is best known for fleecing the rubes - I mean, promoting his brand - at the expense of every other possible guiding principle.
You know I’m as far from anti-capitalist as it’s possible to get without becoming President of Argentina. If people want to spend sixty bucks on this, and someone is willing to sell it to them, Bless Their Hearts. Consenting adults can do what they want.
It’s the kind of thing that does more to tarnish the name of the Lord more than any drag queen story hour, though.
Speaking of the extreme-right, I saw this making the rounds on Xwitter not long ago:
Even I must credit Russia for gifting to the world so many hot female athletes. It doesn’t make up for [gestures around wildly in every direction] but thanks anyway.
That said, anyone who hails the Motherland as a white Christian ethnostate which keeps the riffraff outside of its borders will be shocked to find out that Vladmir Putin is pro-open-borders to a degree that would make even AOC think he’s gone way too far:
Even if Russia were walled off from the rest of the world - and I know a few people in the Baltics who’d be more than happy to help them build a really, really, really big wall - it would still be one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world.
Eleven percent of its population is Muslim, compared to 8% in France and just over 3% in Great Britain. The country - an empire, really - contains within its boundaries the traditional homelands of dozens if not hundreds of ethnic groups, many of them Asian.
Needless to say, this is the stuff you don’t see on RT very often.
Not the English version, at least. On their foreign-language channels they appear much open to reporting on the glories of Russian multiculturalism, in the hopes of importing people who’ll do the jobs most Russians won’t.
Like violently subjugating Ukraine.
Have an enjoyable Easter Break. To kick things off, here’s the greatest appearance by the Easter Bunny in movie history.
Or maybe it’s just the greatest moment in movie history, full stop. (Skip ahead to 1:37 if I didn’t embed this properly.)
There's a difference between a Good Christian such as yourself, and a Fundamentalist masquerading as a "christian" (or a "muslim," or a "jew"). Fundamentalism is its own religion and the various versions of other religions it pretends to be have much more in common with each other (patriarchal, violent, misogynist, authoritarian) than with the Actual Religions the parasite attaches itself to. Fundamentalism is in fact The Enemy.
