Out: horseshoe theory. In: circle theory.
Far-right and far-left convergence keeps picking up steam; also, stealing from people because their dads are Russian criminals is still wrong.
When Briahna Joy Grey was finally kicked to the curb by The Hill, I was going to make some kind of snarky comment about how she can finally collaborate with Candace Owens, another African-American female commentator booted from a media outlet (Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire) for “criticism of Israel.”
But I thought better of it. It is wrong, and arguably kind of bigoted, for me to assume Owens and Grey should be natural “allies” just because of their gender, skin color, and firm commitment to anti-Zionism which has absolutely nothing to do with hatred of Jews don’t be ridiculous stop trying to say that.
Plus, Owens’ statements about the issue go beyond the Israel-Palestine conflict and come very close to, if not over, the line that separates opposition to Israel’s existence and medieval stereotypes about the Jewish people bearing responsibility for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Grey, to the best of my knowledge, hasn’t gone that far.
It was a cheap, lazy joke the kind of which plays into the toxic “identity politics” I try to avoid, so I thought better of it.

That Mr. Orf apparently found the Nick Fuentes video on the Twitter account of MMA fighter turned full-time Jew-baiter Jake Shields is just the icing on the cake.
In fact, guess who else has been retweeting Jake Shields lately?
You’ve seen me prattling on about “horseshoe theory,” which posits that the extreme left and right actually start coverging the further you get from the centre, until they have more in common with each other than they do with moderate liberals or conservatives.
With former Bernie Bros and She-Bros now openly praising and even cavorting with actual neo-Nazis, at what point do we say they’ve stopped resembling each other and are in fact effectively one and the same?
Problem: you want UFC but you also wanted Ukraine, so now you’re under international sanctions and have to make your own fun.
The most Russian solution ever:
I still wouldn’t say “only in Russia.” I could totally see this happening in Alabama, and to be honest, some parts of Nova Scotia.
Speaking of Russia, I’ve seen this starting to make the rounds on Twitter, with lots of “you go girl!” responses:
